The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is a compulsory standardized test for secondary school students who wish to obtain Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This test is administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) only once each year, usually a day in late March. Students are expected to take the OSSLT in Grade 10. Students who do not successfully complete the OSSLT will have the opportunity to retake the test in subsequent years.
Ontario Secondary School Literacy Courses (OLC4O) is a Grade 12 open course. Only students who have written the OSSLT unsuccessfully more than once are eligible to take it. It is designed to assist students in acquiring the basic literacy skills required for obtaining an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
